Saturday, August 21 – Saturday, August 28 Kimberley Calling Itinerary:

August 21: Greeted at Broome Airport and taken to your accommodation, a chance to settle in and perhaps a swim at Roebuck Bay (10 min walk ) or venture into China Town. There will be shared rental cars at your disposal. Get together 5pm (may change due to individual flight times) at Old BroomeGuest House to meet and greet (group of 13) to discuss the next 7 days.

Dinnerinc at local cafe followed by guided, relaxation meditation with Anandi at Old Broome Guest House.

August 22: Rise at 6am short walk (10mins) in silence to Roebuck Bay for guided sunrise meditation and breath work. A little fruit and juiceinc at Old Broome Guest House followed by gentle yoga with Richard from Broome Yoga School. Full Breakfastinc served. Free time until 3pm ( Shared cars at your disposal).

3pm Meet at Guest House for discussion and more breath techniques, keeping a light and easy feel to it as we are in Broome which is a relaxed place to be.

Sunset picnic at Riddel Beach. Once the sun has disappeared over the Indian Ocean we start our moon meditation. Slowly we drive back to our accommodation.

August 23 – (Camel Trek, Day 1): Pick up from Broome Accommodation 6.45am.

6.45am – depart Broome and travel through Kimberley cattle country crossing the Fitzroy River viewing freshwater crocodiles and birdlife.

Enjoy a coffee break at Willare before entering Nyikina (pronounced Ning- ga-la) land and travel through historic lower Liveringa station viewing wildlife, nature and stopping off to learn about local flora & fauna.

Visit historically significant Lynungoodjung cave to hear dreamtime stories of Woonyoomboo followed by a fresh made lunch with local Nyikina men. From here we depart on our trusty camels for an afternoon trek down to a local Billabong where our guides will teach our guests about bush tucker, tracking skills and bush medicine.

Enjoy a cuppa whilst setting up camp at our very isolated camp in the middle of no where! Mid afternoon meditation time!

After getting settled and at your leisure, our guides will bait up the billabong for an afternoon of fishing for Cherabyn (local prawns) or Barramundi and later we return to camp for a scrumptious camp fire dinner. Marvel at the open sky as you camp under the stars in domes and swags.

August 24 – (Day 2): Rise to the sounds of thousands of birds. Meditation and breath work. Enjoy a lovely cooked breakfast then break camp.

Mount up and continue on our journey down to the Mighty Fitzroy River. Here we will set up camp whilst our guides prepare a fresh made lunch. The afternoon is spent exploring the banks and billabongs, nature and wildlife and taking in the beautiful isolation that this rarely visited location has to offer.

Find a sandy bank next to the water for your mid afternoon meditation session. Late afternoon sit down to enjoy the setting sun as it slowly disappears down behind the Kimberley bush. Then enjoy a camp fire dinner with your local guides who will share with you their local stories of a once bustling sheep and cattle station.

After dinner try your hand at catching the elusive Barramundi, the prized fish of the Kimberley and the Northern parts of Australia or just sit around the camp fire tell stories with the locals.

August 25 – (Day 3): Early morning meditation embracing the sounds and freshness of the day.

We break camp, load up and start our journey back to the Mount Anderson Camp Ground stopping off for a swim along the way at a local billabong.

We arrive at camp to meet some of the local ladies who have prepared a fresh made lunch for us to enjoy. We spend the afternoon setting up our bedding and just relaxing and enjoying our own private camp ground equipped with nice fresh showers and flushing toilets.

Tonight we will try some bush food, depending what is on offer, then sit around the camp fire listening to some Dreamtime Stories told by the local elder Harry Watson (see photo, right) before settling into our very own thousand star hotel.

August 26 – (Day 4): Rise to another beautiful Kimberley morning. Meditation.

Enjoy a lovely cooked breakfast then break camp. A short walk to historic Mount Anderson sheering shed for a great photo opportunity before a tour of Mount Anderson Station.

Enjoy an optional hike with the local indigenous guides to an ancient living site on top of the Grant Ranges. Spectacular views, rock art, rock carvings and nature. Other options available. Later enjoy a fresh made lunch with your local guides in a sandy creek bed surrounded by huge red cliffs and Boab Trees.

The Kimberleys**

After lunch travel to Jarlmadangah community Cultural Centre to learn about history, culture, skin groups, tools, weapons and art followed by a bus tour of this very respected remote aboriginal community.

From here we are led into the Grant Ranges to an Ancient Living Site to see a rock art gallery, enjoying billy tea & damper and listening to Dreamtime Stories told by Younguy, one of the community leaders.

3.30pm. We say goodbye to our new found friends and depart for Broome stopping off at Willare Roadhouse for a comfort break then on to Broome hoping to catch a beautiful Kimberley sunset arriving back at approx 6.30pm, Friday, August 26th.

Free time (eg. join together for dinner at local cafe). Join the group for a short meditation at the Buddha Sanctuary at Cable Beach. Returning to our accommodation for the last night.

August 27: Rise at 6am walk in silence to Roebuck Bay for a group meditation.

Back to the guest-house for Yoga with our teacher, followed by a cooked full breakfastinc.

Cars are available for free time to explore Broome. Meet again at 4.00 pm for discourse and meditation. We then take a short walk to Roebuck Bay to enjoy the “Stairway to the Moon”. Free time (eg. join together for dinner at local cafe).

August 28: Optional rise at 6am walk in silence to Roebuck Bay for last morning as a group meditation or you may choose to have a sleep in. Breakfast together at Guest House before departing ways.

If you plan to stay longer in Broome maybe near Cable Beach, I would advice you to book asap as it is peak time and accommodation will book out quickly.

What you should bring:

Hat, closed in shoes, sunglasses, camera, bottle of water suitable for top up. Bring extra clothes, toiletries, towel, bathers, warm jacket, pillow/sheet and torch. 10 kg max luggage. Cash for optional extras.

Transport: 16- seater air-conditioned 4WD coach.

* All breakfasts are inclusive during the full 7 days. All meals during the Camel Trek are included. Due to free time periods in Broome, lunches and some dinners are not included, except those indicated by an asterisk *.
